Luxury is a trap, always. People want luxury so that others will appreciate them. Luxury shifts the focus from the inside to the outside. This leads to inner emptiness (lack of possessions). Jesus Christ also warned us about the consequences of this.
for to him who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance; but he who has not, even what he has will be taken away from him
Matthew 13:12; 25:29
If the purchase is not a luxury, then it’s a different story.
